Searching for Skorpio Rising Outfit by Aery Soul

https://www.daz3d.com/connected-textures-for-skorpio-rising

So, since the beginning I have been hunting this outfit down.

We have the texture add-on here on sale at Daz, but not the original outfit.

Searching Rendo brings up other products, but not this one.....

Free web archives bring up the scene and not the outfit.

All other googles bring up artwork and dead links....

a) I assume the store is still selling the textures to an outfit that no longer exists for some good reason......

b) I feel like I've wasted nights before- searching for this set and can;t remeber if I ever solved it. I must NOT have because I never grabbed the textures.....

Anyone know about this? Or remember how we got here- aside from the Vendor dropping support for Poser and moving their store around?

I've contacted Aeon Soul directly and it's pretty impossible to get the REALLY really OLD files.

So is it time for the texture set to go too?

Why, there are other users that do have this outfit that might want this texture set.

I surely don't agree with AS reasons for pulling their old items (one of the reasons I don't buy much from them), but no need to punish users that still have their old items.

So.....how long before the "They might want to buy the expansion" window closes?

Versus, I see the texture on sale and want the suit it belongs to?

And I don't know if pulling an incomplete product from the store is punishment.

I personally feel products should never be pulled, not like it's taking up shelf space. If anything this should be on AS for not keeping their product in the stores, not Daz..

There will always be things we want and reasons why we can't have them, don't see this as being any different.

I fail to see how textures for a product that is no longer available to you or anyone else is an incomplete product. To a user that has this product, it would be an expansion

There are quite a few older AS producst that were pulled I would still like to have access to, but what is done is done

Well, I sometimes buy the textures BEFORE I own the main product. That's 50% of the Daz freebies strategy. lol

Imagine my suprise when I have the Skorpio textures in my cart and I can't find the Skorpio suit.

Buyers are already bothered by not noticing the Required Item listing. Now consider what a bother it would be to have the original item not available....anywhere.

I actually assumed it could be for sale in the other place and would have grabbed it today and waited or grabbed the main suit from them.

But on a whim, I searched over there and almost got tricked by a set for sale with the same name. Double lol, not lol.

    ----

At any rate, they were kind enough to use the description TEXTURES in the title to make it clear. But perhaps it should also be updated to say *** Required Item no longer available.****

It was also for Victoria 3 (document page here), so while I hate to see things leave a store, V3 is a little old.

I bought the OOT textures last year, though I've had the AS set for awhile (I was waiting for a sale). So, I, for one, am glad that Daz didn't pull it. Since Daz has a return policy, I'm sure if anyone mistakenly bought it, that they could get a refund.

It was for Victoria 3 and probably doesn't convert well

I use to want to do this when I was broke, and I loved the products like that.  When I finally had the money they were gone.  I've begged for them be brought back.  All I got was a tough, its never gonna happen attitude.  I wish Daz would make room for everyone of those old files.  I wish they were available.  But I am really into shaders right now, and the current item of theirs I have doesn't have many sculpted details under the textures.  People use to paint texture sets for every release and the community at Rendo made lots of money with the freedom to texture the simple sculpts in a wide variety of ways.  That community support just doesn't happen anymore.  AeonSoul's own textures are about all there is now to dress up otherwise plain models. Its really debatable whether or not if that's where I am going to be spending my money now.  I am going to raid my stash of stuff and see if I can make use of the sci-fi shaders I just made on other clothing items.  Maybe some everyday kinds of items can be made to serve a different purpose.

In this specific case, I am sure it is Aeon Soul who asked that it be removed. They have a history of retiring products, oftentimes when they rename themselves (e.g. As Shanim, Awful Soul, Aery Soul, Alfa Seed, Aeon Soul).

Agreed. And as for AS many people have asked for items they have pulled. They've probably lost a good deal of money on that account, I recall having a hair wishlisted at Rendo, poof gone when I wanted to buy it.

If I should ever produce any content I'll make sure it remains available "forever", if nothing else then as freebies. What have I got to lose?

I think AS should provide removed products for free download after that. Somewhere on Renderosity or Google Drive. At least out of respect for those artists, who made texture sets for that products. That's my opinion.

BTW, Phoenix1966, I noticed that Ulrich and Yago are not available on Market anymore. Why? What's wrong with them? What about "freebies" then? ;)

They were bought out by Renderosity and will eventually appear there under the RPublishing name.

  • Since I was playing in my Daz closet, I have got to say getting some old V4 stuff to work on G3F is difficult enough, often times I'd rather not.  Aeonsouls newer stuff looks great and they are offering more options on the newer models to kinda address the need for textures.  I bought a lot of stuff on sale that I probably won't ever use.  There are some things in my closet that make me want to learn to texture map too.  Even though I have big collection of seamless textures for shaders, it might be nice to just buy great textures and roll with it sometimes.

You do know that vendors who provide third part textures sets are partly in competition with the original who create their own original and ancillary textures.... There is no understanding that one owes a debt to people who are competeing with you.

I heard they pull stuff for tax reasons

I subsequently grab anything older by AS I slightly fancy if on sale just in case

not got this one though was prob before my time

You kidding me? Textures without original clothing are useless and nobody buy them as a separate product. You MUST buy original product to use textures. That is not competeing. That is cooperation. If you see nice textures, then you will buy clothing too (or not?). So Artists who made textures helps to sell original product.

Old products get retired  for any number of reasons. Exceeding their useful life cycle is a good one. Maybe AS will offer an updated version eventually.

    Nod bad. Congrats.
I was surprised that some of the best characters for Michael 4 became unavailable.

Yeah I'm not sure why their old weapon sets were also removed too (from another store though). I still use them to this day in every render with my character; you put MEC4D metal shaders on them and they look as good, if not better than anything made today.

Yes, there are many products which I'd never have bought or even noticed if there hadn't been some good 3rd party textures for them.

I have a nifty Sony Discman that used the now obsolete MiniDiscs...  No one makes disks or batteries for it anymore but if some third party decided to make a case for it, I would not expect Sony to be required to start manufacturing the product again.  If a third party decides to make a texture for someone else's product, they are taking on a risk but they are not the deciding product.  I actually have the product but the not the currently available mats.... I have used Victoria 3 in a few years but I will look at the product.
