CF Files

Are "CF" files poser files? Most of my exclamation points thumbs are CF files. I do not use poser, so I may be able to uninstall those.

    Configuration Files I think it means. That's why they typically aren't very big.

    CF=Companion File
    Companion Files usually provide the right materials and settings for the specific program, either Studio or Poser. That said, there was a specific period with Genesis and Genesis 2 where Daz supplied Poser Companion Files that allowed them and their stuff to work in Poser itself. I think, though I will not swear, that those were specifically PCF files and not CF.

    If you download via DIM, they say what they're for, but I suspect Connect/Smart Content may not display enough information. It just depends on the product and age whether they're for Studio or Poser. In DIM, they say StudioCF or PoserCF, and you need to keep the StudioCF files to get the right 3Delight material settings for Studio.

    Hope this is helpful.

    CF is Companion File.    You find it mostly in DS products that can also be used in Poser.  with these you will get a poser companion file ((CF)

    You sometimes find it on a Poser product that has been updated to include more usability in DS,  in this case you will see a DS CF

    Some Genesis and Genesis 2 content, and some general scenes and props come with Poser Companion files. These allow Poser to load the Daz Studio content if you install the DSON loader for Poser. Genesis 3 and 8 do not work in Poser so their content never has Poser Companion files. Poser Companion files are no use in Daz Studio. I've never tried to load one in Studio but I expect it wouldn't work.

    Some old Poser content comes with Studio Companion files. These are usually material settings that work better in Daz Studio than the Poser versions.

    Some old content also comes with Bryce Companion files but I haven't seen any of these recently. These are Bryce scenes that load Poser conent into Bryce and apply Bryce materials and lights to them. These are Bryce format files so if you did put them in a Daz Studio library or Poser runtime they wouldn't show up since Studio and Poser do not recognise the file type.
