DS can't find CMS

sapatsapat Posts: 1,735

Sorry I'm back with another problem.  Sigh...  My hard drive was reformatted recently and I reinstalled DS, and I put the CMS in the same folder where DS is on my D:/ drive (external).  Now I get this error message.  Is there a certain place I was supposed to put it?

Thanks (again)...having a rough day today with DS and DIM. indecision

The same thing happened to me with my new build, I just re-downloaded the PostgreSQL CMS from my product library and re-installed, worked no problem! It has to reside in your C-drive's program files no exception...

If you reinstall PostgreSQL as Takezo suggested, and it's then installed and working normally, if you're still getting that error, then check the CMS Settings inside Studio. The same directory as DS is not normally where the CMS database supposed to go, but I think that can work if you tell Studio that's where it is.

You can find that by going to the Edit menu, then Preferences, then CMS Settings. On that panel will be an option called "Content Cluster" that tells you where Studio thinks your database resides. The default location on Windows is c:/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Appdata/DAZ 3D/cms/ContentCluster and that's likely where it's trying to look, but again, as long as Studio knows where to look, I believe it can reside pretty much anywhere.

I was having the same problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled CMS multiple times and nothing seemed to fix it. Finally I simply deleted the entire

    c:/Users/YOURUSERNAME/Appdata/DAZ 3D/cms/

folder, then I uninstalled and then reinstalled CMS though DIM, and now it is working.  Evidently just uninstalling the database does not erase the AppData cms folder, and I suspect there was something corrupted in there that was causing it to not show up in DS. However by erasing this folder and reinstalling, it created a new AppData folder.

Anyway, fingers crossed it stays fixed this time.

Well, I uninstalled from Control Panel, and reinstalled through DIM.  DS opened fine after that and it said 'loading CMS' while it was on the splash screen.  You guys are awesome!!

    Here's where it is now:

    C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms\ContentCluster

Then I also have this other folder.  Is this supposed to be here?  I happened to find it while looking around.

    C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\cms

    Thanks.

Well, something is there, in any event. I just looked at the folder on my computer, and the same directory is there. However it only has one file inside it. Since it's not a second copy of the database, I plan to leave it alone; everything is working as expected with it there.

LOL, yeah, I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. I forgot to mention that below that cms entry is another folder

    C:\ProgramData\DAZ 3D\Studio4

It has a file it it called 'dazstudio.dat'.  I'm leaving that one alone too!!
