Can I create a shadow/dark and small light

Hi all. So I'm still very new to Daz (only 2 months under my belt), and I need some assistance on something that may seem simple to you veterans. What I'm trying to do is get a small dark light under the hood of a character I'm doing. Its a dark character and some sort of black lighting is what I"m looking for. I've attached two pictures so you have an idea of what I'm talking about. 

 

Any and all assistance is welcomed, and please speak to me like I'm an idiot who doesn't know too much about Daz.

Depending on the material zones on the cloak, you might be able to use something like Marshian's Dark Matter Shaders to emit a "negative light" and keep the head and face dark inside the cowl.

It looks to me like the cartoon image is a mask and not shadow. You could put a small spotlight just above the front of the cowl and pointing down to get it to shadow the face.
