I'm taking my DAZ animated character to Unity (Game develpment enviroment). exported as OBJ file

And i did it, but in Unity it says the OBJ has no Animation data available.

In DAZ i did few frames of animation so i dont know why it says i dont have any?

Am i exporting it wrong?

Oh i was reading stuff and apparently OBJ can't do animation.

well that's disappointing cause finally i was able to export my DAZ characters to Unity and they work well textures and all.
But with FBX export to Unity( Which does export animation)...the conforming clothes no longer work. the morphs don't work and so on.

so that just leaves me back at ZERO. i dont know what to do.

an obj is only a stationary model
you need to use fbx for rigging and animation
you also need the game developers license if you want to redistribute a game using Daz original mesh
other Premier Artists mesh would need permission from those artists.
(for your own use on your own computer or renders no restrictions)

The best way to do it, is export it as an obj, and as an fbx, and do the rigging in unity.

Semi-related: I'd like to see OBJ sequence import/export be added as a feature for DAZ Studio.

Add this to the What would you like to see in DAZ Studio 5 thread in the commons. It is seen by DAZ from time to time as they visit the forums.
