No probs with voting page - it showed just all the #buttons related to the previous images viewable in Bryce;.

Selina, I, like you, prefer the private vote too, whose Apoc's interface allows.

@horo wierd, I think that is something beyond control on my end. Might have something to do with the servers? ~_~ I am unsure. If anyone else experiences that problem, I will send in a ticket ^^

@Selina yes the voting is 100% private. No email, no registration, so your votes always come up as anonymous even for myself.

@mtnmen yea someone else notified me of that as well, thanks :). Small error on my part when I deleted the rugby error cheeky

    Great stuff. Voted.

just wanted to comment on this business with the bees.  People are trying to have more rooftop agriculture in my city.  How many floors could a building have and still be bee hospitable?

Voted!!!! Truly brilliant performances for everyone. Excellent artistic commentary, wonderful story telling, excellent technical skills all around. Even the simplest seeming images have a ton of stuff to ponder. Very good work to all the contributors. I think this one will be close. Best of luck to everyone!

Apparently the general opinion amongst bee keepers is that hives above 10 storeys are “speculative ventures”; those above 15 stories are on “life support”.   Also of course you need to consider the availablity of forage for the bees.  Most people will have no clue that each new hive will consume the floral resources produced by the equivalent of eight hectares of lavender. For those who don't know a hectares is 10,000 square meters. So hives in a city which has maximum amount of buildings and minimum amount of garden and park space may not thrive.  The average honey bee colony will forage on an area 2 miles (3km) in each direction from the hive, although they do sometimes go farther.

Incidently,  while looking up a few facts I cam across one of himself's books which has the catchy title of  "The Queen Must Die: And Other Affairs of Bees and Men" which is actually a fascinating book to read,  just as a book, even if you don't want to keep bees.

Very nice, Chohole on the book - The Queen Must Die: And Other Affairs of Bees and Men (Amazon link).

Our own Philip McCabe was president of the Irish Beekeepers Association for many years, so I bet 'himself/yourself' must have attended lectures by him one time or ever. I've heard him several times on the radio over the years, talking about bees, and the stories and knowledge he had were always fascinating.

Les was a member, and for some time Apiarist, of the Twickenham and Thames Valley BKA, which is quite a famous teaching Apiary, so it is is very possible the he met him.

  • @Chohole: I learnt interesting facts about little creatures, which I think you cannot estimate highly enough

Thanks as well to Apoc and Chohole,

Voted. Had a couple of favorites, but as my remaining votes dwindled, the task became far more difficult!

Some great stuff and clearly a *lot* of attention to little details, both in the stories and completeness of the scenes! magic!

    bravo!
