Architect Office and its wonderful separate PROPS. Bless you.

I've harped on this numerous times- how I dislike fused together environments. There's nothing worse than trying to work with a product and it's one big glued-together set.
Sometimes even working with surfaces can't save you.
Well today I saw the Architect Office and immediately thought "Don't need one of those....pass" But then I looked at the set to see if there were any interesting bits and I noticed the drafting table and how it could be used for several things and themes. Then I noticed the walls and floors are separated, which is good for camera angles, lighting and to also to build my own rooms. One wall is even a huge set of window panes. That will go far. The loose books on the shelf are also a prop that will probably be used a few times....

The flats screen TV looks crazy, I will probably change the frame using Mecs shaders to metal and make it a futuristic monitor.
The Buddha statue...and glass bauble will most likely be scaled up HUGE and checked to see how they hold up. That/they could be something nice/weird that sits the center of a room or open space as a decor-kinda-item.
Looks like the door works too, if not, I can always swing it open myself.
Overall, a lovely addition to those of us that kit-bash and mix products together to serve specific needs.
Well-friggin-done!
Bless this PA.

This was an insta-buy for me too, because of the great price and separate props. The artwork and Macintosh especially will get used in other scenes.
I agree, it's great when an environment can be split apart and kitbashed. I have a render using it cooking right now and I wish the drafting machine's metal texture was not a sort of galvanized metal flake thing. To me it looks a little odd when viewed close up. Going to try it again with a polished aluminum texture or something.
BTW, picked up these drafting tools by Valandar a long time ago (I think they were a freebie?) and added a few bits to complete the scene.
Nice. I have this one. Never used it, but the table legs need to go to something. Especially with those swinging hinges.

And in that one, even the desk lamp can move around. Man, that desk lamp needs to be edited into some kind of appendage that hands off a robot. lol
.
Here's the render I mentioned above, only about half-cooked but you can see the metal texture I was referring to.
BTW, the character is Botan by Mousso who was also released today.
Edit: Fixed poor Botan's name. Sorry Mousso!
Wow, that is a good price for a new release. It's not something I need and my budget is currently tapped out, but it's nice.
I know, right! I just signed up for Prime over at Rendo since I have been spending more over there lately, but some good deals here today.
Nice render ColinFrench
Thanks!
only about half-cooked
I love when Daz-heads show a stunning render with the "it's not finished" disclaimer. Great work. Thanks.
I hope this realization spreads. I know when I first got into Daz, I felt like I needed THE EXACT THING all the time.
After a while, I started thinking 'how can I make this?'
I wish separate props was the PA default.
I grabbed a spacestation set and I Sooooooo badly want the parts, but it's all one-single-element.
Well, there was still a lot of noise in the shadow areas in that render, and there are a lot of shadow areas! I let this revised render cook longer and it's cleaner. Did a few tweaks to improve things but still not happy with the metal texture. I'm a noob with IRay shaders.
"After a while, I started thinking 'how can I make this?'"
So true. Probably half my recent renders are in environments made from Collective3D's Create-A-Room items. Combine that with Vyktohria's Architectural Shaders and all sorts of settings are possible.
I bought it this morning, and I'm so glad that the vendor has heeded our cries for more flexibility in his brilliant sets. Hopefully, he will not decrease the spectacularity (made-up word?) to which I've grown accustomed from him. Great job, and I got it for 15 cents thanks to my hunch that next month's PC+ coupon might be active ahead of schedule.
Theoretically, the Platinum Club coupons "save" you money... but between the Mousso releases and this very nice set, I'm spending another chunk of money to take advantage of the $6 coupon that I haven't used yet for July.
Are the iMac looking desktop computer and notebook computer separate props? If so, this package is worth it (at the sale price) just for those.
The "iMac" computer and the Laptop are separate props.
They are simple Objs, though. So the keyboard/mouse on the iMac aren't mobile, and the Laptop doesn't have a working hinge, if that matters.
Thanks, Burst of Times. I don't care so much on the iMac. The notebook is a different matter.
Yeah, I think those details do matter in the right situations.
Predatron has a laptop that has Open/Close dial. https://www.daz3d.com/laptop-and-table-set
I think this set also has a functional laptop computer. https://www.daz3d.com/professors-office
Most laptop/notebooks don't seem to open/close.
It's the tablet era, I guess.
If you can select the cover and the base as separate parts, you can duplicate them and set the opposite ones to have an Invisible Opacity then position them to any angle you want!
Oh, wow, I hadn't noticed that all the walls and the door were seperate objects. That makes the set worth getting just for that alone, even though I'm not interested in "an architect's room" at the moment. So I've added it to my get list, too.
I was thinking the same thing also, but just discovered that if I load it or merge it to another scene, then all the objects move even though they are parented, really odd behavior.. I tried loading it by itself and then deleting the cameras and props and saving as just an office, but it still loads all out of whack when merging into another scene, hmmmm.
Bought the moment I saw it. Can be changed to other offices, even to am upper-end living room, with that windows. Love this set.
