What's the fastest way to refresh a texture? (IRAY)

FlortaleFlortale Posts: 611

I change a skin texture in photoshop. Now I want the results to rapidly show up in IRAY render. This is what I normally do:

1. I switch to texture shaded.
2. I right click surfaces and click refresh.
3. I switch back to NVIDIA Iray render and it reloads everything. This gets the new texture to show up.

Is there a way to speed up this process?

I tried "automatically refresh images" setting under surfaces, but it doesn't work.

The texture is in Memory and Daz does not see new texture. Rename new Texture with a new name and add manually in Surface tab. It will now show new texture. There is no fast way that I know.

The problem is I may change a texture 20 times. Can you imagine loading 20 new 4k texture maps into memory? lol

It seems DAZ Studio has the same problem as Poser in regards to a lack of rapid texture refreshing. Not a big deal though. I'm used to this process being time consuming. *sigh*

Yeah, it seems to be a time consuming bug. If someone has a workaround I would like to hear about it.

The best solution would be for DAZ to let us refresh individual textures. You could put a small refresh button next to the map in surface settings. So if you set a displacement map, a little button is on the right that lets you refresh and reload it into memory.

That could work. You can submit a feature request thru the help desk. Maybe the programmers will listen.

    I know your pain Bro.
I myself make multiple changes to textures and suffer the same agrevating display issue.
I've still not found a way around altering the file name.

    Texture-01,
    Texture-02,
    Texture-03 ....
    Texture-34

When I'm happy with the texture version (Texture-34). I go back and delete the previous versions.

After 5 years and at least 3 version updates I still haven't found a more eficient way to refresh the "Daz screen".
