having a problem with the weld button

this may seem weird but as a newbie at this, I'm trying to weld 2 pieces together but every time I do it my hexagon crashes is this normal or am I doing something wrong?

    Can you post us a screen grab showing the two items in question making sure the wire frame is clearly visible. As large as permitted. Ta

    make sure dynamic geometry is collapsed
