"Preparing scene" never finishes in an infinite loop.

I have a scene with three figures and quite a few props.  It keeps saying "preparing scene" at the bottom and never finishes.

How do I fix this? Even if I delete everything in the scene, it keeps going on the bottom, "preparing scene", even though i've deleted all the objects in the scene.

I assume you've tried restarting DS? If this is an Iray render, is it set to use the GPU, the CPU, or both - Advanced tab of Render Settings.

If there are a lot of non-iray surfaces in the scene it can take a long while for studio to convert them before it starts rendering. I run the Iray Uber Shader on al non-iray surfaces before rendering which speeds the process up.

    Thanks, I will try this.

After doing that you may also have to adjust some settings on each surface to get them to look right. The uber shader doesn't always do it right smiley

In Poser I'd always setup a diffuse, specular and bump.  This is old school.  Does IRAY use PBR? Physical base rendering?  If so, do you know what makes up a basic IRAY shader? I'm going to watch some surface tutorials today for basic IRAY shaders for like a wall, table, silverware, carpet, etc.

It is more a case of the maps not being loaded, not in the correct places or some settings not transferring properly. I just scroll through each surface seting to see if they match what I would expect for that particular surface.
