Getting stuff to show up in Smart Content

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can give me a solution or a few hints. I have a ton of content, mainly older V4 stuff, that shows up in Content Manager but not in the Smart Content pane. From nosing around, I'm guessing there isn't metadata for it, or whatever is needed to get Daz Studio to categorize it into the Smart Content pane. I rarely use Content Manager and tend to rely upon the Smart Content pane. So... Is there a way to get these items (things like Technophilia come to mind) to actually show up in Smart Content?

Thank you!

Bob

It‘s tedious and a lot of work, but it can be done. You have to create metadata for each piece you want to show up in smart content. I found this tutorial to be most helpful so far: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r-sdHEBNCB4

    Hope that helps!

You just have to remember to export all of your custom metadata before upgrading then re-import it after.

This is a mind-numbing process especially when you are dealing with multi-piece outfits (gloves, belts, hats, shoes, etc) I recommend a logical folder structure for your legacy content. This takes much less time and will help you to locate content inside and outside of DS. I came up with an organization method which has worked for many years. Then I found this I like his method more than my own. I am now converting to it. Just my opinion.

You can just drag and drop the items into smart content menus/categories now (for your own use). Let say that you have content library tab opened on your right side and smart content tab opened on your left side. So grab item from content library, drag it over to the smart content tab and drop it On the menu you wish item to be in. A window will appear in which you assign content type and after clicking accept its done, item is in your smart content now. If you wish to assign items to the specific figure, like, for example, clothing to the G8F or poses for G8M, you need to have that figure (G8F or G8M) loaded in the scene and have it selected in the scene tab before you start draging and droping items

Just be careful when adding your own metadata. I did this for my older items and when a new version of daz comes out you can lose ever bit of that info. I finally gave up doing that and just made myself a visual catalogue outside of Studio of everything I own.

How did you create the visual catalogue???
