Gun prop for genesis 8 problem...

Hi ,

I need some help to make a real gun prop for one of my character. I modelized a gun with sketchup, and wanted to translate it into a prop, knowing that the double canon can deploy itself, and the gun is opening to load it.

I don't know how to start. The parametrage of the model must be all done in daz3D ? Or do I have to prepare it in 3DS MAX or soft like that ?

Thanx a lot to help a newbie again ^^"

The rigging is best done in DS, but it will probably be easier if the OBJ has the groups already created (one for each bone). Import the OBJ into DS, just to make sure you know which scale to use and how it is oriented. Then

    1. open the Figure Set up pane.
    2. right-click in the Geometry List panel and select Add Geometry, using the same preset as caused the model to import at the correct size
    3. drag the model from Geometry List to the Geometry entry in the Relationships panel.
    4. drag-and-drop to get the correct hierarchy - probably the other parts children of the butt.
    5. you want the rotation order for each bone to list the direction that runs along the model first - probably x or z here - so right-click on the Order entry for nay bone you need to change from xyz to set the correct order.
    6. Click Create
    7. Now you should have the bones set up with the correct orientation, though not necessarily the correct start and end points - switch to the Joint Editor to adjust those.
    8. Switch to the Node Weight Map Brush tool, right-click>Weight Editing>Fill By Bone Selection Groups

Give that a test, with luck it should now just need materials.
