He awoke with a jolt, rattling the bed beneath him.  "Where the!"

A feeble yellowish light seeped in through the barred window.

"Oh.  Hahah.  My private room at West Park.  I must have fallen asleep with my virtacs in."

His eyes hurt and his throat was parched.  A scent like roses and burnt rubber lingered in his nostrils.

He couldn't find the remote to switch the virtacs off.  Maybe he should just pop them out.  He didn't have his solution and virtac case with him, though.

They didn't allow mirrors in these rooms.  Maybe the bottom of the bedpan?  Nope.  Too scuffed and scratched.

You weren't supposed to rub your eyes, especially with the virtacs in.  Maybe just a light massage around the sockets for now.  He had learned that from a Chinese health book.

    Just a light touch ...

"No ... oh no!  What have they done with my eyes!"

...normally here in Portland OR it's pretty much the same as well, however the last several summers here have been the driest and hottest.  32 days of 90° + (F) weather this past summer which set a new all time record.

  • CricketCricket Posts: 490

90 degrees is our normal in Florida.

...I lived in New Orleans fro a while, same there, with 95% humidity.

  • SzarkSzark Posts: 10,634

    oh that is too sticky

  • JOdelJOdel Posts: 6,322

Uh huh. And then in the southwest we get the periodic Santa Ana conditon, with 100-degree approximate temperature and single-digit humidity. At least those rarely last more than a few days at a stretch.

  • CricketCricket Posts: 490

We had a few 100 degree days in July-August. Christmas day was a chilly 85 degrees frown

  • July and August averaged 106 + Was 80 here with 99% humidity on Christmas Day

I had forgotten about this thread too. That picture was uploaded to my gallery in January and just today I remembered ... there was a thread for rendering Jack's creations. Uhm ... what was it's name? Hooray for Google. LOL
