vanishing animations with geometry shells in iray

I am wondering if anyone can duplicate this error which plagues me using iray

if I create geometry shells of Dforce hairs in particular and render a simulated image series my rendered 3D mesh vanishes, all of it, not just the object with the geoshell, after a number of frames.

Only iray does it, openGl and Octane render are fine,

3Delight I have not got a lifetime to test cheeky

Do they use chromatic SSS? I wonder if two more-or-less overlapping surfaces would combine settings to get the same invisible mesh unless Draw Dome is on effect that can also happen with certain settings on a single surface.

no nothing fancy just iray uber and it's the entire mesh say dog8, it's eyelashes and the fur which has geometry shells with different transmaps, an idea I copied from Dimension Theory's Frizzies.

this is an openGL videorender of the dog with two quite offset geoshells

    an Octane render video

and yes I did have draw dome on if that is a factor

I had 39 frames with the dog for that scene then it just was rendering the camera panning around the HDRI for the rest, I stopped the render when I realised

stills at any point in the 1000 frames rendered fine

and this is the animated  iray scene without the geoshells which rendered fine

Millenium cat and a human head hair did exactly the same thing.

not solved new issues this time with Octane Render plugin

vanishing figures with parented hats and cameras or hats unparenting in render.

I think DS is caching information somewhere that gets loaded into the renderer or on the card and wish I knew where it was so I can purge it, the script for removing unused stuff not doing it.

    Something else occurred to me

I always thought DS unlike say Carrara loaded everything into the program no longer referencing external files

My Library is on my F drive which is not plugged into my UPS and I get power fluctuations every time my fridge cuts in.

Does it maybe lose the data when that happens?

it is along with all my other programs and associated files on my internal E drive in my tower just the library on F.

the scene contains individually animated transforms of instances and in spite of a warning about instances and geometry by octane  they all render animated.

Scene files refer to external assets - the .dsf and imaeg files. Even once loaded, morph deltas are not read inm until the morph has a non-zero value. Texturs are prpared for the render engine only at render time, at least in Iray (I think tdlmake will work on the files for 3delight before that, if given time).
