Does geometry editor map a model

My question is: If I create a primitive, then use the geometry editor to create new surfaces on the object, is that pretty much the same as UV mapping the object? Like if I were to export the primitive as an obj, it would have the UV mapping included when importing into other programs?

Assigning polygons to a group (regardless of which kind) is not the same as UV mapping. However, the primitives created within Daz Studio do already have UVs, so exporting them (assuming the chosen format supports UVs, the appropriate option is enabled, and the target application likewise supports UVs for said format and its options are set) would include them.
