Same problem, same question What's better than Parent and pins?

I'm losing it over this and I hate losing HOURS reading fake manuals, bad youtube tutorials and OLD FORUM POSTS that do not help.

Rant over.

I'm trying to PIN AN OBJECT TO ANOTHER - without it EVER MOVING. I want to WELD them together.

NOT move with.

NOT follow

NOT reach some kind of IK limit and start moving.

Transfer (insert word) will not work because it is a LINK in a chain and not the chain, itself. We need to get that ONE LINK to stay in place while the rest of the chain (not that link) still acts like a chain.

If I pull on it, it bends and pulls the other links along, but does NOT move that first link.

I tried parenting and it moves WITH the object, fine, but moving or changing the pose of chain eventually moves the "anchored" link.

A few other suggestion I read in old posts crashes my Daz 10.xxxx.

---------------

Sorry for the salt, but damn, sometimes the simplest things are almost impossible.
Anyone have an idea?

I have no idea how to pin something absolutely rigid in the way you describe, however since its just the one link why not have a separate single link, place it, parent it, whatever, then position your actual chain relative to that so you can swing it around however you want without having to worry about moving anything that should not move.

  • Have you checked Casual's free scripts? Unfortunately DS doesn't have parentable IK targets, which is at least part of what you want.

Hi, As Richard stated, this is simply not possible with the current tool set in Daz studio.
You need a constraint & Ik solver  for this type of Dynamic interaction
that exists in many other applications  ..but not Daz studio

    Sorry Mate.  sad

    Argghhhhhhhhh!

So I am now using Strings

    https://www.daz3d.com/strings

So what I will do instead is- use the ball and chain version of this product. Link everything to the Iron ball prop and manually move the "end link" all over the place. Not a good solution, but a workable one.

At least shrinking the Iron Ball "anchor" part of the chain didn't break the association.

I'll also be using this one later on, probably-  will try the same workaround.

    And this one too.

I bought just about everything with a chain trying to solve this. lol, not lol. angry crying

    Thanks everyone.
