Help? (Error Opening File)

Hi! So Im a total newbie (Just got Daz studio last night and have been looking at tutorials) and I bought a couple things to try out, but when I try to load matierals on my new figue, it tells me error opening file... Any help would be appreciated! I feel like it's a really obvious problem I'm just missing, and I'm trying to Google it without much luck.

Materials presets require that you have the target item selected in the scene, they just say "change this" rather than loading the model itself.
