LIE issue

Ok, I've spent a day looking for an answer to my question, but it seems that I'm just ignorant in my own special, snowflake way. :)

Anyway, I've been using LIE to place a PNG file over a section of skin. I get it in position and it should look like a a big splotch of black (btw, it does this with Tattoos too, but using the splotch as its easier to show). Here I'm showing the splotch and the splotch on the skin of my person. Before I start doing everything with a geo shell, can someone hopefully what I'm missing to make the splotch look solid black? Thanks :)

  • Here's the picture in an iray render. The splotch should be black, not just a simple stain. Help?

Which map(s) are you applying the overlay to?

  • The maps are the standard maps associated with an iray based character. I can take a simple object such as a sphere, give it a texture like leather, and add the splotch using LIE and it works fine. Its figures I seem to have problems with.

I meant which mapped prperties - for skin there are a lot of properties which contibute, beside the base colour.

The 2 bigs ones you'll need to apply that too would be the diffuse and transparent maps.

  • I've been applying it to the base. I think the tattoos do the same, but I will try the other two. It has to be one or the other though, correct? Or both at the same time.

  • Interesting. I have to apply it to the base color and the translucency layer and then it works, but I have to do it to both layers at the same time. Thanks guys.
