Weight Map Mirroring Problem

Hey everybody, I'm using DS to rig an original figure. My problem is, when I try to us the mirror weight map function, nothing happens. I'd hate to have to try to hand paint symmetrical maps for an entire human figure.

Does anyone know if this is a bug, or is it possible the program doesn't like my UVs? They are symmetrical.
