This render was floating around in my raw renders to finish in photoshop folder.  The raw render is actually from 2016 so its somewhat primitive as far as composition and posing etc.  But I need the practice in photoshop as well.

Was just playing around and testing out some content.  Saw the spider throne and ended up with this.

So I finally had to break down and buy a new machine.  I'm waiting on the secondary drive to come in.  I am both super excited and very nervous about setting Daz up on the new machine.  I am also somewhat nauseous about the price.  But...it should last me a good 20 years ( I got almost that much out of the laptop I'm currently on.  This is a desktop and splurged a bit on a larger moniter so I can see details much better.   Should be a dream to game on too.  I believe the secondary drive has 12TB of memory with room for expansion.  But the price was.....difficult to swallow.  I'm goint to see about monetizing my art to help offset some of this.  Another learning curve lol.

  • Sounds like a lovely Christmas present.  If you don't mind sharing what spec did you go with for your new desktop?

as soon as i get it home I will. He told me but I was driving at the time and couldn't write it down. I know it has  12tb secondary drive. 4060 video card i think 32gb of ram, 27 inch monitor.and he said if at some time I need to add more memory or power there was plenty of room to upgrade.  The secondary drive is on back order til next month.

So despite the difficulties I am having mapping my directories to the new network drive, I have to say that I am finding the new pc to work amazingly well.  I currently have it hooked up to the external drive that I was using with my laptop while I try and figure out what is going wrong linking the network drive files to daz.  I've been working on it for about 4 days now and decided I needed a break to just play with it and see if it was improved.  All I can say is wow.  I had a 1060 card with 6gb ram. I now have a Nvidia GrForce RTX 5060Ti card with 16 GB of RAM. Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-14700F (2.10 GHz).

Iray preview was pretty much unusable with the old system.  Now its amazingly smooth and I don't have to change something, turn it back to texture shaded before it crashes etc etc.  This is going to speed up my work flow exponentionally, even if I have to occasionally use 4.24 for scripts or plug ins.

My Spider Queen art is one of the featured over at the other place.  Totally made my day!

Well I think I finally have everything the way it should be.  I did get 4.24 working again, the alpha is working and so is 4.10.  I do want to comment on some things.  Because I have a 5060 rtx card, I can only render with the cpu for 4.24 and 4.10.  Can't use most of the scripts or plug ins in the Alpha.  Again, no big deal, do it in 4.24 and move it over.  Well.... its not quite so simple.  The alpha is not recognizing the files for the skin builder when saved with a character in a scene subset.  Also not a big deal but you do have to import your scene, then go to the materials folder where those skins are stored and re apply.  Again, no big deal unless you don't know.   So, now you know lol.

Also, none of the converted characters (G2f and g3f to G8F) will transfer to the Alpha. For me, this is not a big deal, my CPU will render most anything so I can render it in 4.24 it just takes a little bit longer, but it can definitely be a problem if you have a machine that struggles in CPU.

I haven't had much time to finish anything since I work two jobs during tax season.  Plus, been super busy with the grandkids.  No complaints lol.

The post worked version.  This is a Genesis 2 figure, I have very fond memories of Genesis 2 because I started out about a year before Genesis 3 came out.

    The non post worked version

Thank you so much!  I've been gone for several years and its just seems like there is a lot less interaction than there used to be, so I appreciate the feedback!

Hi Sonja. Nice to see you back rendering. I don't do post work but seeing what you do takes any render to the next level. The interaction isn't as it was. I have added a few images to my art studio thread and, either people don't look, or they just don't comment :)

Glad to be back!  Thank you!  I'm kind of sad that people aren't interacting as much.  We all developed some wonderful friendships and I feel we all pushed each other to be a little bit better.

Wonderful to see your updates. I don't visit the forums as often in part because I have been traveling more.  I do check in from time to time. Keep up the great work (when grandkids allow).

Thank you!  I hope you are travelling for fun!  Yeah, time is of course, always at a premium lol.
