First of all, let me say that I am completely new to DAZ. So yeah...I am trying to install DAZ 4.6, but 4 items are failing to install. It gives me this message:
Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "DAZ Studio 4.6 (Win 32-bit)" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.5 (32-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.
Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "DAZ Studio 4.6 (Win 64-bit)" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.5 (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.
Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "GoZ for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit)" requires that the installed path for "DAZ Studio 4.5 (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.
Install Manager cannot find a required path. The installer for "Photoshop 3D Bridge for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit)" requires that the installed path for "Photoshop CS6;CS5;CS4 (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

I did what it tells me to do, but it gives me the same message.
I googled this, but I can't find a way to fix this.
But I read that some people use DIM to install this? I am little confused.
How do I fix this?

The first two messages puzzle me -- can you post screenshots of your "Ready to Install" tab and your Settings > Applications tab?

Install Manager will pick up DAZ 3D application paths automatically, but for Poser, Photoshop, etc. you need to add the paths in Settings > Applications.

No, you want to add it in the Applications tab in Settings:
1 - click the cog symbol to open Settings
2 - go to the Applications tab
3 - click the + sign to add an application

Same thing is happening to me. The fix mentioned above doesn't say where to locate these files or install them to (and I have tried multiple paths, etc). While this is a free program, I take it the goal is to get me to spend money on other products. That will not happen if installation is this difficult. So far, I am very glad I did not spend money on this. Very leery of pursuing this product....

Go to 'My Account' , 'Product Library', type "Studio" in the filter box then download the appropriate installer for your OS and run it. Until you run the old installer you won't have a path to Studio that DIM will recognize as it needs the path the program file itself.

    THIS WORKS.

1.) Go to 'My Account' , 'Product Library', type "Studio" in the filter box.
2.) download the appropriate installer for your OS. (BLUE BUTTON)
    3.) run it.

DO NOT "DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL" (GREEN BUTTON)
    Green button bad.
    Green button very bad.

Do exactly what jestmart tells us to do.

    thank you, jestmart.
    after hours and hours, and I mean HOURS AND HOURS.... T H A N K Y O U.

Can you please provide the screen shots of the fix, having the same error here and Im stuck up...

I had a similar problem, and it turns out I hadn't set the "32 bit Software" path on the Installation tab. It's something to try.

Okay, having the same problem and the same error message. I have read through the above posts and still having a problem. First, I find no "cog". Where is this? Is it in the installer installation, the application or where? Second, when I go to the the product library and look for the installer I only see one for the windows op system and it is labeled DAZ3DIM_1.1.0.21Win32.exe. There is no other win version of installer listed. I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7. I download and then manually install (Blue button). I get the same error. If I filter with "Studio", no installers show up. Only four other programs which I have no knowledge of.

    Texture Atlas for DAZ Studio
    GoZ for DAZ Studio
    DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro
    FBX Plug-in for DAZ Studio

There is no indication that any of these have any relevance to the installer.
While I appreciate the input from everyone above, there needs to be more specifics for those of us not familiar with the product.

DIM is only 32 bit, because there is no need for it to be 64 bit.

What are you trying to install

There is documentation here about the Install manager itself http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/install_manager/start

There is documentation here about using Daz Studio (DS) http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/start

I don't see a "DAZ Studio 4.6 Pro" in my list, but I assume you meant "DAZ Studio 4.6 (Win 32-bit)" or the 64 bit, both of which are the DAZ Studio application. The other three are plugins for DAZ Studio (which you may or may not need, I have a version of DS that includes Texture Atlas already for example and therefore don't need the separate plugin, don't use GoZ which I think is used to send stuff to Zbrush which I don't have, etc.) And you are correct, none of them are part of the DIM installer, although of course you can use the DIM installer to install them.

First install just DAZ Studio. Go to the Settings > Applications tab and add the paths for the versions of Photoshop and ZBrush you have. If you don't have Photoshop and/or ZBrush then don't install the plugins to connect to them.

I was trying to install v.4.8 and getting the same error. Putting in an installation path (Program Files) fixed the problem for me. Haven't opened the program yet, but was able to finally install.

First, there is only the Pro version of DS. Install DS. Go to your serials page under My Account. Locate the serial for DS4.x listed there. Copy it to the clipboard or keep the page open so you can copy the serial to the app. Launch DS. It will ask for the serial code. Copy/Paste or whatever to input the serial.

All of the plugins you are asking about are part of DS Pro. When you input the serial, it will automatically activate most of these plugins. Animate 2 has a 30 day trial. After the trial is up, you will get a warning when you launch the app. Decimator is not included in the free version of Pro. You have to purchase a separate license for it. You will find it listed in the Help>About plugins section which will show you which plugins are activated and which are not. Look at the plugs on that page. Green means it's activated and red it is not.

The more advanced Dynamic Cloth Control plugin is a separate purchase and requires both installation and activation with it's serial.

Basically, install the Pro version and input your serial. The check the plugins page. This will tell you which plugins have been activated and which have not.

  • First install just DAZ Studio. Go to the Settings > Applications tab and add the paths for the versions of Photoshop and ZBrush you have. If you don't have Photoshop and/or ZBrush then don't install the plugins to connect to them.

I have "tool settings", "draw settings" & "render settings". I cannot find simply "settings" anywhere. Do you mean "preferences"? I don't think so because I cannot find an "Applications" tab there either.
