how NOT to save settings

is there a way NOT to have a session setting carry over to a new session? For example, if I add a new tap or reconfigure the size of my edit space during a session ; those changes will carry over to my next session.

I don't want that to happen. is there any way to keep the origina settings from session to session?

Tap = tab (meaning pane)? Assuming this is DS, not as such but you could save your layout then reload it (both in Window>Workspace). It should also be possible to write a simple script to reload the layout, then set that to run when you open DS.
