Looking for tutorial on making D3d items 3d printable

I am looking for a good tutorial on making Daz3d models (just characters so far) 3d Printable.  I am hoping to develop some elves/sprites/faeries for my wife to paint.

I know there is a plugin that you can send your models off to print but I want to be able to get the costs down to a point where I can make it feasible for her to sell these things.  We already produce a number of other things for sale.

Alternatively, if an artist would like to work with us to produce 3d printable objects, let me know.  It won't be lucrative at first, but I am sure we can come to some sort of agreement.

Thanks

Mik

The plug-in will, I blieve, produce printable files. However, regardless of the technical issues you need to remember that the 3D printing license is strictly for personal use only - for commercial use, including selling painted prints, you need to contact Sales Support.

Thanks for bringing that up! I really appreciate it.  I will do some investigation into the licensing.  I assumed that any models you purchase can be used commercially.

I've just printed my first and second prototypes but there is no easy way to do it (that I am aware of - but I am no expert).  My pipeline - Pose in Daz, export to ZBrush, re-mesh everything - effectively using the DAZ geometry as a 3D reference only given all DAZ geometry seems to be single thickness (ie one sided). Remesh all the individual components to obtain a single skin, decimate if necessary then export to stl file.  It's relatively straightforward although very time consuming.  In one example I simply used the DAZ model as a manequin for my own head sculpt (just chopped the DAZ head off and replaced it with my own) to create a bust.  DAZ hair is really only good for a basic outline and needs extensive fixing and resculpting.  Many of the props and clothing aren't fitted well enough to use as is and as I said - it's all single thickness geometry.  The example is printed at 75mm scale and a little overexposed so lacks detail.  Things like swords need to be bloated in scale as the waffer thin DAZ ones, although they would technically print would be unusable in real life.  This is one of 2 I have planned for a diorama I intend to paint.  I've sent a tick to DAZ to see what the progress is on the 3D Print license.  Although I'm not a professional it is theoretically possible I might be asked to sell or trade a finished diorama piece.
