...crikey I'd love to actual figures of my Shadowrun characters created from my 3D versions. Just don't have the money for a printer and don't think the one company Daz allows us to use prints figures that small (I'd need them painted as well as I can no longer do such tiny detailed work).
If you can lump the figure with gear as a group and export that as an .obj file, then a 3D printer will work and you can have anyone with a printer do the work.
I tested a while back with a simple robot thing I got off of a free site just to see if I could - I don't have the print anymore, but I just loaded a quick DAZ asset and confirmed it will print. You'll naturally have to cut off the plastic supports with a hobby knife or something, but:
turns into
And is all ready to print.
If you don't have a printer but want to see if I can print it for you (some poses or parts are VERY intricate and difficult to print, or may need to print in parts), feel free to contact me here: https://danielsantoro.com/contact/
They've set up a pretty good pipeline for 3D print; you can also get them to fix a mesh for you and then print out the mesh at your own printer using stl format.
..again I don't think they do game miniature scale (28mm), only larger models and they are very expensive.
You can get them to create a printable file for very cheap, and print at home yourself. There's people who have done so in the thread and the results looked good.

...don't have nor can afford a printer of my own. I don't even have a flat text/image printer.
I took the free warhammer 40k space marine terminator model and with a bit of modification to the assault cannon (it was too long and skinny compared to the actual GW model) Managed to print a pretty good one.
Settings on a 3d printer are so darn finiky though.
Gameprint and 7 inch models are way too big for my purposes. I have had great success printing my own ZBrush scuplts and HeroForge 28mm scale mini's. My interest is in dioramas which means being able to pose the mini's for my own purposes so DAZ seems to be the perfect vehicle though things like hair and clothing need a bit of work to make printable.
Nice, I love dioramas and that is a cool use for printable models. Since we can't print DAZ models for commercial use, it's nice to hear of other personal uses I haven't thought of.
Gameprint are also doing smaller ones. They had test trials for 2" figures recently, but had a problem with the material, so it's not available in print, but getting the STL optimized for that size should work. STLs are currently at $2 per figure.
Yep. Trying my first print with a GamePrint STL. Their STL's are error free so far - better than I can achieve myself so the $2 investment is really worth it.
Glad you're liking our STL repair service, let me know if you need anything. I'd be happy to help out.
