Iray settings to dial back for workspace test renders?

Hello -

Would anyone care to share what Iray settings they dial back in order to do "quickie" test renders in the workspace to evaluate lighting, etc.? I'm just looking to save a little time in setting up for the final render.

Thank you!

Aside from using the iray preview, there's this product that has Many iray render presets. The DRAFT one is probably the one you're looking for.

    https://www.daz3d.com/render-studio-iray

    * The iray preview (mode) is a look at what your current render settings should give you.

    There is also this product

    https://www.daz3d.com/render-throttle-for-iray

That lightens the burden and gives a few lo-res settings for the viewport- so if the iray preview mode is too slow to ...preview, this should make it possible to use on low end machines.

I use the first one, Render Studio Iray all the time to keep my render quality consistent (I reset after using Vendor-sourced render settings and computer crashes)

And used the second, Render Throttle (which worked well-enough to recommend) until I grabbed a beefier Video card and PC. Still, I only use preview mode to make sure the backdrop (an iray skydome) or lightning works as expected.

A third option to help is Scene Optimizer which also lightens the PC load and makes scenes...RAM-digestible. lol

Thanks very much indeed. I might look into these if I decide to keep using Iray. But for now, I'm just looking to minimize the time it takes to see a rough draft.
