1 DSON Core Installer Vs. DSON Importer for Poser: Simple Question

OK for the Product "FutureWilderness" It had marked it had the "1 DSON Core Installer", does this mean it will work in Poser or do I need Daz Studeo to to take it to Poser?

I bought The Executioner for Genesis and it has "DSON Importer for Poser" and I have it loaded in manually now, but FutureWilderness did not have the Poser files so I can find them in my runtime.

What is the difference between "1 DSON Core Installer" and "DSON Importer for Poser" because I thought "DSON" ment in general it will work in Poser???

If I can't easily get FutureWilderness into poser I do not want it and I want to get credit for something else becouse I cant use FutureWilderness.

I've been waiting of 2 days on a reply on this through the new web tech support, what has happen at Daz these days, there customer support was great, what happened?! Can anyone help?

DSON is the official name of the format used for .dsf and .duf files - hence the DSON Importer for Poser, which reads those and converts them into something Poser can use. The core files are those for DS, which Poser also needs alongside the companion files (which are just library files, the geometry and textures come from the core installer).

Future Wilderness does not come with accompanying Poser Companion Files.

You have two choices. If you have DS4.5 or above, you can make your own.

    Or

You can go to D3D's site and download this script

    http://d3d.sesseler.de/index.php?software=poserpython&product=dson_loader

It will allow you to load the duf without the accompanying Poser Companion Files. It's also free. You do need to have the DSON importer plugin installed to whatever Poser version you want to use the product in.

When you read the product page, if you do not see a listing for a Poser Companion File, the product does not have one.

I also have a product that has It had marked it had the "1 DSON Core Installer" mentioned in the product promo page.

I also have the D3D script which works for a lot of things.

One product i have that says this is the light tactical vehicle and no matter what i do i can't get it into poser.  So now i'm also curious to see what the answer is to the OP question about what is the significance of a product that has a dson core installer?

    Love esther

DSON does not mean poser compatible and never has meant poser compatible. As Richard said DSON is the file format (or scene specification language) for DAZ Studio. If a product is not set up to work in poser, specifically for the "DSON importer for Poser", there's a good chance it will not work even with the D3D script. The D3D script just bypasses the importer by reading the files directly but it follows the same rules. If it will not load, then there is nothing you can do with the product beside trying to convert it to obj and load it in that way.

Sorry to resurrect such an old post, but someone over at another forum asked me a question about DSON and I wanted to fact-check my response.

I wanted to thank you for writing such a succinct, clearly stated response to this question.

Thje DSON Importer bypasses the PoserCF files, it's still using the importer - just a different way to tell it what to import.
