Porting Daz3D into Maya with IK rig, facial animation (not using the DazToMaya plugin)

Hi all,

I recently picked up a trial of Maya to see what all the hype is about with the main intention to do animations using the various custom characters I've created over the years.

I saw there is a DazToMaya plugin but while researching it I also saw that many people have tons of issues with it and it's $30.

Since I'm doing a trial of Maya and I don't know if I'll keep using it (it's very expensive after the trial) I don't feel spending the $30 on a plugin is justified just yet.

Is there a tutorial or guide to exporting a daz figure (FBX) into Maya in a way that I can IK pose and either use the Daz morphs (ideal) or facial bones to do facial animation?

Thanks!

The plug-in, like everything in the store, is covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee - you could always try it and ask for a refund if you decide not to use Maya or find the plug-in doesn't do what you need.

Oh really? I didn't know that! in that case I will definitely be giving it a shot.

For the sake of curiosity though, my question still stands.
