 I recently scored a ROG asus laptop with a 1070 to set up scenes at work..

    Congrats on the milestone. 2 megaviews here you come!  

    I  have a ROG laptpop with a 1060 in it, love it. the only complaint is the trackpad, and that's a nit I gather you have a power-machine for your primary renderer so the ROG machine so for scene setup and test rendering purposes I think you'll find the laptop to do a great job. I have a little wire picture frame holder that I use to  prop it up in the back to get more airflow when rendering, that seems to help so you might want to consider someting like that to get the intakes off the table unless you have a cooling pad or something like that.

    I have my monster 10 core 1080ti with massive radiators for actual rendering.. I use a mouse with laptops.. I have a metal cooling pad. I got it with $700 off at Best Buy due to getting a Sony XBR-A1E oled TV a few weeks prior.
