Can it be done? I just wanted to cut a circle out of a simple object maybe a primitive pane of whatever. How to do this please if you can at all (images preferbly would help)

In which application? Are you wanting the hole to have sides, if it's in something other than a plane?

It's called a boolean operation.  Bryce can do it.  The boolean can be negative (cut out) or additive.

They are generally not recommended except for simple shapes,  because you can not control the resulting polygons,  and the model can get messy quickly.  Can form n-gon.

Hexagon has a boolean operation as well.

You could use a transparency map as well.  Easy on a plane - Create a simple white image in your editor of choice, and put a black circle where you want the hole.   Then apply this to the Cutout Opacity of the material on your plane (Or Opacity if using a 3DL material).  On a more complex shape you will have to alter the position of the hole according to the UVs but you can estimate these from any existing maps provided if it has an image based material already.

To make an actual hole in the mesh you will have to break out a Modelling program as stated in the previous answers.  A Knife Projection in Blender would do it as well as a Boolean.

If it's just for a primitive pane - you can add a transmap to 'Opacity / Cutout Opacity' in the surfaces tab - make a jpg image with a white circle on a black background to use as the transmap (or vice-versa if you want the circle to be the transparent part).

If it's through a cube or something, you need to use a modelling program.
