Drag and select

Is it possible to click and drag a rectangluar region to select multiple items or nodes? Holding down the mouse key does not seem to work and neither does any of the keys I've pressed.

In Daz Studio? No, I'm afraid not - you can click, shift-click to range select in the Scene pane and ctrl-shift works in both Scene pane adn Viewport to add to or remove from a selection.
