I've discovered I'm a "Shaderholic"

I used to love 3Delight shaders, but Iray seems to open up even more potential. I keep seeing all these cool sets of shaders and buying them without knowing how I'll use them yet. I don't want to count how many I have right now...
Interestingly enough, it also means I find myself being more picky in clothing and props I buy. How the materials are defined, the level of detail in the mesh vs. relying on bump/displacement/normal maps makes a difference now it what I prefer to buy for my content. If I can't change a jacket from cotton to leather to armored easily then it isn't as useful no matter how wonderful the pre-built textures might be.

I bought all of the JGreenless Shader Sets but of course with that massive a volume of shader and material combinations and my own slow computer it is unlikely I'll ever get close to using them all. Given that most modern DAZ products already have excellent materials I bought these material sets as a library to use for my own models as it is not easy to even have access to all the materials photographed and modeled in those JGreenless sets.
I stopped counting.... I do, however, use them a lot. And I too am much more likely to buy something if I know I can change the way it looks with shaders.
I love them, too. They're a great way to change the mood of something and get greater versatility out of items. I like the uniqueness of changing the textures myself and prefer that over texture packages. I love it when I can use a variety of fabrics/finishes and colors on one item.
Shaders are Love! Shaders are Life! And clothes with options to re-shade are always a better choice than those without that option. Though I also am a quite gimp'ish person, which means retexturing is another hobby for me.
I love them too! (Heh.) My favorite thing about them is that one could, for example, make 100 Hawaiian prints and package that up to be used on any clothing item. It wouldn't be feasable to do 100 different texture options in a single texture expansion set, and that would only work on the one set of clothes. Versatility for the win!
I am also a shaderholic, but I tend to make a lot of them myself. I guess I'm more of a "creatashaderholic" LOL

My name is Allison, and I too am a shaderholic. I have also partaken of Allenart shaders as well, I have all her freebies and regularly troll for more
Hehe...thanks ;)
Sorry there hasn't been anything new lately. Inspiration is scarce these days and I'm still waiting for it to return :P

Shaders are a kitbashers best friend.
