It would not affect the actual image, just, perhaps, your viewing of it.  It also might, depending on card type and render engine used, assist in the rendering of the image.

  • i use a 980 ti for graphics card as well and a tv as a monitor at the time lol and the native engine for daz

Both Iray and 3Delight are 'native' to Daz Studio, but only Iray would make use of your 980ti for rendering.

I recall I purchased a graphics card a few years ago, jpg images just looked ugly with that card compared to how they looked with the integrated Intel graphics card. Not sure why.

hopefully graphics card pricing comes back to affordable someday. 980ti costs more than my system, and all of them are very expensive.

I had a 980ti previously, and last year upgraded to a 1080ti.  The only difference I remember noticing was the speed of rendering, which was pretty significant.

The quality of the images is much more dependant on proper lighting & composition, planning, post work, etc as well as the render settings within Daz Studio.  That's a huge topic in and of itself and too much to go into here.  I will say search for "iray oversampling" or "manual oversampling" because that's a very useful tip to speed up rendering.  Otherwise just search these forums; there's TONS of really great threads about render quality and how to achieve it.

If you're looking to upgrade because your renders are too slow, by all means, go for it.  But a 980ti should absolutely be capable of putting out high quality, very detailed renders if you're patient enough to wait for them and you're tweaking the DS settings to their full capabilities.
