What's the Story with G8 HD Add-Ons?

The release of Genesis 8 HD add-ons has been a bit all over the place. A number of characters have been skipped over. I didn't even realise Alexandra was released because she wasn't on the March Madness promo page.
I've always thought the HD version should be included in the pro bundles so I was really glad to see Edward HD included when the base version was bought. I'm hoping this will be a trend going forward.
But what about the characters that have been given HD versions? Will we eventually get a HD add-on for them? Especially Owen and Monique. And if not, why were these chosen to be skipped over?

HD has never been included with the pro bundles until the Edward bundle.
I would assume the ones that haven't gotten the HD treatment yet will in time.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. I know HD has never been included in the pro bundles, I meant that I think that they should be included so I was happy when they did it with Edward for the first time.
I really wish Daz would publish some sort of Release Schedule. I know they want to surprise everyone etc. But a general idea of some main products would be nice.
Yeah, I've been waiting on Owen's HD morph especially myself. *sigh*

And I would prefer they offer an option for those of us that have little to no use for the DO HD. I have exactly two of them, and wasn't happy to not have a choice in the matter with Edward.
But Edward HD came free with the purchase. You don't have to download and install it.
That's the one I'm waiting for most too! When I saw Charlotte HD I really thought Owen would be next.
Perhaps Owen 8 HD and Monique 8 HD are going to be March Madness Bonus Offers like Alexandra.
Possibly. I'm raging I missed out on the Alexandra offer. How much was the bonus discount?
I'm not exactly certain. I'm a PC+ member and it came out to 5 bucks and change for me. I could have gotten it for free, but I decided I'd rather hang on to my coupon in case some nice male figure made its way into the sale. LOL. I won't hold my breath tho :P

Are they worth it, though? Because the G3 HD add-ons didn't do much besides sparing you from using normal maps (which could save some memory). I came to realize that the normal maps for g8 are much smoother than g3's versions (which could arguably lead to less details).
What was the Offer? I think I overlooked that one since I bought Her when she was released.
Was one of those MM deals that if you bought anything from the MM sale in the three days previous you got a bonus item for a low price. This HD offer was just in the last week, so it wasn't offered when the Alexandra bundles came out.

Thank you AllenArt.
This is my first post in Daz forum. I'm hoping someone could explain to me what value there is in the HD add-on. The promo photos without skin are hardly distinguishable in many respects. Does it make that much difference in realism? Also many new characters for Daz people as well as the base character are marketed as HD. Does that mean they have the same power of added detail to your model, or is that just refering to the fact that they were sculpted in zbrush or other program?
Hi, and welcome! I find HD morphs to be worthwhile, and I've bought quite a few of them, but I do know what you mean about the untextured promos—they can look rather underwhelming. On natural human figures (as opposed to fantasy monsters) the effect is often subtle although it becomes much more noticeable with features like veins. Even where the effect is subtle, though, to me it is enough to make a worthwhile improvement in realism.
A character marketed as HD is simply one where the HD morphing is included as a standard feature of the figure, rather than it being an optional extra, but apart from that the principle is the same. They will have been sculpted, as you say, usually with ZBrush in the same way that the add-on morphs have.
Here's an example of a character I created using HD add-ons. I wanted him to look a little older and more weather-beaten than the original model. There are veins, wrinkles, crow's feet and ripples in the torso that the non-HD mesh wouldn't have allowed.
