The US big leagues have players from many of those countries (and vica versa) but I don't recall an Australian player.

    I wouldn't have a clue... frown

and the only USA baseball players I've heard of are Babe Ruth and the one in Mrs Robinson song by Simon & Garfunkel which I'm struggling to remember.

oh.. and also who, what, and I dunno laugh

Joe Dimaggio.  He was married to Marilyn Monroe for about a year.

Yup, and Paul Simon tells about Dimaggio asking him why he picked that (admittedly very famous) name, since Dimaggio had not "gone" anywhere.  Simon explained he had another name in mind - I forget, maybe Babe Ruth - but the syllables of "Joe Dimaggio" fit the song better.   Plus Dimaggio played his entire career with the NY Yankees, nicknamed "The Yankee Clipper", and Simon was and is a huge Yankee fan.   He said Mr. Dimaggio was satisfied.

Simon's favorite Yankee was actually Mickey Mantle, and he's a little shocked at this revelation by Mantle (~5:10)
