Has Daz slowed the download rate for manual downloaders?

Any of my fellow dinosaurs noticed that the manual download speeds have gotten pretty slow? At first I just thought that perhaps it was just my internet. Its been like this for several days now though and my download speed from rendo is unchanged...

No update notification, slow download speeds, its like Daz dosent want my money anymore. Either that or they want me to try dim (already did) or, HACK, HACK, COUGH... connect.

Hmmmm, mine is always hit or miss, but I am sure it's my ISP since other things tend to slow down also like Youtube.

  • I just got a booster for my internet because we had another line put in. Generally, my internet has been relatively fast. But these daz downloads are so slowwwwww.

Randomly happens to me. Something screws up between my ISP and DAZ's download server causing the connection to timeout.

DIM downloads are just as slow these days, for me.  if i have multiple products and any kind of volume to download, it's likely to take me six or seven lost connections and resumes to finish...it's gotten to the point where i think twice before purchasing if i'm looking at a product that's mega megabytes.  feel like there's been some kind of server switch that amounts to a downgrade for users...and it doesn't matter whether i'm using a PC or a mac.  but daz downloads have never been this slow and unreliable.

    Maybe Daz is getting throttled...

Maybe they're testing FFC's new Net Bias rules.

DIM was slow as molasses yesterday and the day before.  Maybe a lot of people were downloading Edward related things.

Hardly ever had any problems here with DIM, practically always rock stable connection and high speed. Just downloaded a 462 MB file, took 4 minutes. I'm in Europe, don't know if that matters.

I downloaded 5gb with DIM this afternoon while I went to the gym; was gone less than 2 hours and everything was done when i got back. I'd check your internet and/or ISP.

Thats just it though. My isp and general speed is rocking for the most part. It seems to be the daz downloads that are taking their time.

LOL, it is the file servers used by DAZ not your ISP. My massive Unity beta reinstalls always download relatively quick compared to the DAZ downloads which are usually mediocre or slow in download speed. Not so massively slow as trying to Kodi view SF1 or BR but slow.

Mine have been very slow recently on my desktop. I thought my connection to Dz was being throttled.

Sometimes if you find downloads are being slow  resetting your router can help.  I know my ISP does often wrok on things overnight and at weekends and they do actually recommend that routers should be reset if they appear to be slow.

Through the past week my DIM downloads have been very slow. Not this morning, though... full speed ahead, or down as the case may be.

Between manual for archives, DIM for my server and Connect for my IRay machine I downloaded about 45GB from DAZ in 5 hours yesterday, so about 2.6-2.7MB/s which is close to my average from anywhere but one payed storage service on local servers.

Have had the odd day or three when downloading from DAZ in proplematic but I download more here then any other site exept a couple of locat TV providers and the aforesaid cload service so no surprise there..

  • I have no answers, only questions. wink

  • Honestly, it's more likely a service provider between yours and DAZ than DAZ themselves.

This often works with me, too.

    Cheers,

    Alex.

  • Well, my download speed this morning seemed fine. Perhaps I was seeing slow speeds because it was "peak times". Perhaps it was the machine gods toying with me again. There has certainly been alot of that lately.sad

Only times I see slow speeds from DAZ is peak time or after a big new release. And they sometimes get more servers for those times. My AT&T internet recently got faster upload speeds. It has had faster downloads for some time.
