Why Does DIM update so often?
It seems like almost everytime I buy something from Daz, the Daz Installaltion Manager has to download an update before I can download my new product. Why does it update so often? it seems like this should be a stable piece of software that doesn't need many updates, but it updates much more frequently than any other piece of software I own, and I can't delay the updates until later while still using it. Can the updates be turned off? Or scheduled to be a once-a-month or security-related only? It's a small thing, but it's adds a annoying step to the Daz purchase process. Ironically, buying at other stores, where I have to unzip and manually install—which is more work—is less annoying because it doesn't seem intrusive the way the DIM updates are.

It does? Mine doesn't update often at all. Maybe once every 6 months...sometimes even less.

Maybe it's updating MetaData?
Same for me.

It updates most times I open it. It updated this morning and a few days ago.
That suggests that soemthing is interring - perhaps your security software is blocking or reversing updates or a system restore is being triggered to roll your version back.
I don't have any special firewall set up, so I'm not sure why that would be happening :(
Which version is it?
Have you explicitly run as admistrator at any time (right-clicked and select "Run as Admistrator")? That would be likely to set file/folder permissions incorrectly, which might be blocking the update.
I don't think so. I always launch it from Alfred, a utility which allows me to launch things by typing the names, or, more commonly, just by clicking the download and install button on Daz after making a purchase.
I would always be suspicious of any such utility if the application was behaving in unexpected ways.
It's a fairly commonly used power app, and doesn't cause any problems I know of. The only thing it does, vis-a-vis app launching/use is launch it as if I were launching it from Terminal instead of clicking on it in the Finder. It's actually the one app I have that comes closest to "can't live without." I wholehearted endorse it for any Mac user: https://www.alfredapp.com.
Since DIM demands updates when it gets launched from the Daz website after a purchase, I'm 99% certain that's not what's causing my issue.
Have you repaired folder permissions, sicne you are on a Mac?
