Backgrounds

Couple of things I need to know please.

I seem to remember I used to use backgrounds quite a lot when I was a Poser user, but I have never used them in Daz, so first question is how do I use backgrounds in Daz? Can anyone point me in the direction of Idiots Guide Tutorials or similar.

Now what brought this thread about is, High Polycount. So, I thought, what if I loaded the empty room I needed, set up the angle for the pose, render it, and maybe save it in a format that can then be used as a picture background. Then load my characters and bits into the scene. Would this be possible? Would it not reduce my polycount considerably if it can be done?

Thanks in Anticipation

You can add a background in the Environment tab. If that isn't open, you can find it under Window--> Pane.

In the tab, you have a dropdown where you can select the type of background (dafault: none). I hope that helps, if not, I am not at my render PC, so you'd have to wait a few hours until I can get screenshors done (or some kind soul drops in with a tutorial)

    1. Click on Window tab, then choose Panes (Tabs)

    2. Go down the list and click on Environment

    3. In the Environment window that has popped up, change Type - None to Backdrop

    4. Click on the Background icon and locate the image you want for your backdrop.

You can also use the Rotation and Flip as neccesary.
