Question about saving poses

If you are creating poses and/or expressions for (hopefully) sale, should you save them as compressed files or uncompressed?

I've always saved mine as uncompressed files. I believe I saw it written down as a requirement once when I was just starting as a PA, but I haven't been able to find that anywhere since. Since no one at Daz has asked me to send compressed files rather than uncompressed ones, I can only assume that their preference has not changed.

Maybe some other PAs who make poses can jump in and confirm that.

  • No reason to save them compressed except to save a tiny bit of space. It's easier to do editing that you may want to do if you save uncompressed.

Oh, OK thanks. I usually save everything as compressed to save room. I didn't know it was easier to make edits later with uncompressed. Now I have to figure out how to add thumbnails attached to the poses...

  • You put the thumbs in the same directory. They should be 91x91 pngs named after the pose file like this: Standing.duf and Standing.png

You can also add larger png files that will show up as popups when you hover over with this type of name: Standing.tip.png

OK, thanks. Now I just have to figure out where in the directory to put everything. I'm doing a character and poses and expressions... Then I have to figure out how to do a separate slider for head and body. I have a tutorial on how to create a slider for the whole character, but not for separate head and body...

  • You can attenuate a complete morph with the headsplit deformer to make separate head and body morphs.
