    I'm not a modeler and I don't know the answer to your question as asked.

    However, it is possible to use Rigid Follow Nodes to attach one object to another. I have several outfits where the PA(s) used this method to attach buttons to shirts. The advantage is the buttons do not distort when the clothing is fit to a figure or pose. Instead, the button simply moves. You'll need to use the Geometry Editor to select the face of a polygon where you want to place the button, Create a Rigid Follow Node for Selected, Now move the button into place on the cloth, and then parent the button to the Rigid Follow Node. Repeat for each button.

    I don't know if this will help you, but I thought I'd "put it out there" just in case.
