This is long overdue. When was the last time you used a PC with less than 4GB RAM? If you don't want to use a 64-bit OS, you have no intention of buying and using a modern GPU to its full capabilities.

Lot of Windows 7 32 bit folk are going to have to migrate I bet.

...which means pretty much a new system for some as depending on the BIOS, some MBs will only recognise 32 bit.

Realisticly, anyone here running NVidia cards is doing so to speed up Iray - and it is only available as 64 bit software.

The real gnashing of teeth and foaming at the mouth will occur when Daz no longer supports 32-bit platforms. I've been expecting it ever since XP was unable to handle the new data formats, but now I'm begginning to think that may be the other consequence of Studio going to QT 5 and a new SDK - simplifying the support chain at that point by dropping 32 bit. Just a guess on my part, comes from a past history of too many cases of 2 plus 2 ending up as 22. cheeky

..a lot of stoftware, even open source has been going that route.

I think it's already been over a year since Unity 3D dropped 32 bit support, Apple has dropped it, and the list will just grow longer. I don't know if DAZ 3D has reliable metrics on 32 bit DS usage (probably not) but eventually 32 bit will be like the DOS mode support in Windows that people thought would never disappear.
