New search engine for the DAZ shop because the existing one is rubbish!

Come on DAZ, how do you expect to sell stuff if your search engine can't find items?

Looking for Dark Schoolgirl Dress for Genesis 8 Female(s), I type in "school" as a search term...no hit for the item I'm looking for. Lets try "Dark school" ... still no hit.

I have to use Google to find things in the DAZ store. Really??

Then search for schoolgirl. if you only type a part of a word, you won't get the match you're looking for

Any search engine worth its salt will find partial matches. Even the search engine in DS itself (which is also pretty poor) can do that (sometimes).

Sorry not sorry for necroing this thread, but it seemed appropriate.

I wonder if Daz is ever going to replace this wretched, awful, terrible, WRETCHEDLY BAD site search engine.

I was trying to find some information about a product, Matari3D's Kalen. So, as one does, I typed "kalen" (no quotes) into the site search. It found 50 items ... none of which was M3D Kalen.

So, having some experience with this store's dreadful search, I typed "Kalen" (with capital letter, yes, and again, no quotes). This time, it came back with 70 (!) items. First in the list was M3D Kalen. Second was Kalen for Dain 8. Neither were in the original 50 search results. I didn't even try to figure out what the other 20 items were, or if, indeed, the original 50 items were all in the 70 new search results. It wouldn't surprise me if they weren't.

A DECENT SEARCH ENGINE SHOULD NOT WORK LIKE THAT!

Seriously, that's just terrible indexing and design.

I only use Google to search for anything on the Daz 3D website, be it store or forums. Yes their own search engine is useless, frustrating, and probably costs them sales. It has been that way for years, as you know, in spite of their forum thread about their effort to improve it a few years ago. I really have no hope that a company that even can't write an accurate sale ad or implement ads correctly, could ever fix the search engine problem.

It is truly dreadful. Finding stuff that's irrelevant and not finding everything that is. And RichardH keeps telling us it's an improvement. It may be, but it still isn't adequate.

    Regards,

    Richard

you need to use Google site search sadly and make sure hpclscruffy doesn't sneak in and remove the s from https if it gives you one

these didn't happen today but does sometimes

  • Shouldn't this thread be merged with the other threads discussing how poor the Daz Store search functionality is?

Yeah, be on par with merging all the threads asking for one PA's character that is basically from Rendo, and a collection of morphs. Lovely and every new person looks for her.
