and looking at some of the other promos he does look different again so it's probably howyou set him up and since he's g3 well I have read few been asking for more g3 content so this may help decide with others whether or not to keep releasing g3 stuff still plus that age old complaint about not enough male content
What you have to be careful of is that you're not presenting your project as having the involvement of the celebrity whose look-alike you are using, nor present your use of that look-alike in any way that promotes the product for having that look-alike. Even with a wink and a nod. I have a project that I am working on that will probably use a digital look-alike as the base model or two, but I'm not using them in such a way that encourages a connection between the celebrity and the digital double. If someone thinks the character might kinda look like so-and-so, that's fine. But I'm not doing anything that weaves that connection.
The same applies above for celebrities that "sold" their likeness to DAZ, suich as Rebey Sky or Anne-Marie Goddard (though I don't think she's offered any more.) You can use their likeness, but you can't imply any association between them and your project. (And actually you should double-check to confirm there isn't a special EULA/license for them)
The only gripe I have so far is that I do NOT like the baked in shaved head dark hair thing, which I am going to have to fix. Makes using other hair with hairlines farther back nearly impossible.

They would be infringing if they were creating images for sale. Unless some licensing deal has been done, the only people legally able to profit from commercial use of a character from a tv show are the show's creators. Doesn't matter if it's a photograph, an illustration, a toy figure, a 3d model, or whatever, the likeness belongs to them.
The problem for people shopping here is obviously that we can't possibly know every outfit, vehicle, spaceship, weapon etc from every videogame, comic tv show or movie - neither can Daz for that matter - PA's should really have to declare when they submit products that the content is completely original, since they're the only ones who know for a fact if the product is based on someone else's creation.
They don't have to use this character as Daryl. Everyone in the world has doppelgangers. Having a character that "looks like" X isn't the same as profiting from X's likeness. I can have a character that looks like Johnny Depp all I want. I just can't have him in a tricorn hat with dreadlocks and scissorhands (or do we cross over a completely new line and become fair use parody at that point?).
Agreed. The character without the hair and beard is absolutely fine, but the selling point here is obviously the fact that with the bundled bits and pieces, it looks like "we all know who". People are going to buy the character for that very reason - when was the last time a new character release got this much attention?
I would be very, very hesitant to use the Daryl-based character "as is" in any paid render because of the extremely strong likeness to the actor portraying the character. He could contribute to the gene pool just fine, and if you mix him up with other morphs and a different skin texture as part of the creative process you're likely in the clear. But . . .this is the closest paid project closely based on a living person I've seen in a long while, save for at places like Forender. (I am not counting fan-created freebie morphs). Rendo still sells them, but the names of the characters and situations in their advertising are often altered to such a degree that the inspiration is not always a sledgehammer over the head.
The last time I saw something approaching the current DAZ character was The "Comic Villain" bundle. Very clearly inspired by Harley Quinn and its an ideal package for fan art homages. But the character included, named Haley, is definitely not a Margot Robbie doppleganger.

I just purchased Willis, whats weird is it doesn't say you need Michael 7 as a requirmment on the product page,Though I'm getting an error saying Michael 7 is missing. for some reason I have not bought him yet. I should have gotten him a few days ago when I could have gotten him for super cheap. Even so, it doesn't look like having M7 would do much. Willis stick looks the same. Interesting.
