Short Wet Hair AND GEOMETRY SHELLS for G8F/M

xyer0xyer0 Posts: 6,321

OK, so I'm looking at the promos for Linday's new Wet Hair, and the hair looks great, but what I'm really wondering about is the wet skin (for which I've been impatiently waiting from the usual suspects). If I hadn't been reading the promos, then I wouldn't know that those fabulous-looking wet geometry shells come with the product! Change the name of the product to reflect that because that is a HUGE plus. Congratulations, Linday, on another great release!

I would have missed it too if I hadn't read the blurb for the product. LOL The wet skin is what actually clinched it for me.

Thanks for all your expensive-looking freebies!

Me too. I was surprised that wasn’t made more clear. A lot of people. Will buy the product for the wet skin alone

    Agreed!

It is not actually that difficult to make your own wet skin preset. All you need is a texture with many running drips, like from a window pane, and apply this to a geometry shell, then play with the various settings.

However, if it is including as a kind of "freebie" inside an already useful product, so much the better.

I was so impressed with this hair and as many know I work with the Hivewire figures so should be easy enough to refit to them.  Not sure about the geoshell stuff but if not I can recreate a geoshell and perhaps copy over the settings for the wet looks as described on the product page but the hair itself is well worth the price of admission IMHO!

  • Oh wow, thanks for pointing this out. I probably would have gotten it anyway, but I was going to spend some time trying to see what shader presets I already had that worked for this for skin, since most are more "damp" than dripping wet. Knowing those are included makes it that much simpler!!

It may not be that difficult to make, but it must be rather difficult to make convincingly, because I have bought quite a few, and most of them do not look the way I'd hoped (and their promos kinda hinted that that would be the case).

I've never bought a wet skin product I've liked. But I like this one in the promos at least!

I have liked a number in the promos, but getting them to look like the promos is the hard part, because they only look good in particular light set ups.

This should definitely be mentioned in the "Details"/description of the product. It could be the difference between a pass or a sale.

I'm glad you mentioned this, and I hope that they change the product's details (for the PA's benefit as well as the customers'). I would never have known about this if you hadn't made this thread.

It does say so in the product blurb....it just doesn't say it in the product title anywhere. If people don't read the product info, they won't have any idea the wet geoshell is in there :)

I'm talking about them adding it to the "Details" which many (maybe even most?) customers don't read past when deciding if they're interested in a product or not. :) The fact that there is no mention of the wet skin geoshells in the Details is a surefire way to ensure that many customers will not realize that the product contains it. It would be a simple change to make and would probably increase the sales for the product. I don't want to sound argumentative, I just think that having that added to the Details would be a benefit to both the PA and the customer.

I will agree that whether they're included or not is not at all clear ;). It needs to be more prominent...hehe.

FWIW, I'm rendering now with a single HDRI and it looks good so far I think :)

  • FYI.... not to take away from this product, but the Wet Body Iray works just fine on g8.

I hope you post the render. I'd love to see it. :)

Well not knowing if the wet skin was included was holding me back too but that clinched it here too.

I've been wanting decent wet hair for a while now and the hair, in itself, is worth every penny.  This image is hair only, not wet body... can't get geometry shells to work in octane yet.

    No post work, either.

  • Well, that sold me.

  • Not to hijack the main subject of the thread, but ... does anyone know what morph Linday used of Michael 8? He certainly doesn't look like my generic Michael 8!

  • Also, in the promo, his shirt seems wet ... any ideas?

Linday made a tshirt for Genesis 3 female that looked wet....perhaps the vendor used their shaders for that one (or even the shirt itself) on the promos ;)

Thanks! Will try it. Now, do you suppose the Michael 8 might be an updated version of Achilles?

Good render, that looks much more wet then the old wet product I bought.

Thanks for feedback, we were thinking about wet skin geoshell as a bonus, 'cause we created it for promos and we were more focused on wet hair.... Geoshell uses custom UVs with uniform scale of UV islands, it is usefull for shaders with tiling textures (dirty textures, etc...)

And yes, the guy on promo is updated version of Achilles for G8M, but it is not available in the store yet. It is prepared as an update.

Wet shirt on the main promo is basic T-shirt for G8M with our custom wet shader.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

How did he get his skin wet, and yet manage to keep his shorts bone dry?

My guess: he just slipped them on now to meet the forum TOS? wink
