FBX keeps wanting to export full 100% poly.

I'm currently having some problem with the decimator and the export. It seems that the FBX export is ignoring the decimated object but instead trying to export the object in full resolution instead of the decimated version. 

See capture2.jpg for Hydra head 5 it is showing 293533 and yet I have decimated that part as well as the rest of the object but somehow it is not acknowledging it. As it should be only 2523 for the fifth head. And the rest of the body poly counts should match what displayed on the decimator (capture.jpg) but is not. 

Can someone suggest a fix?
