What is Core lightning and IBL Above the Clouds too??
https://www.daz3d.com/core-lighting-1
Looks like it came out in 2016.
Does not say iray so I assume it's a 3Delight product, but it doesn't say much more than that.
I've seen the IBL (Image Based Lighting) stuff.
This doesn't say what tech it's using to make lights.
Says it has texture maps.
What could those be for?
They also made:
https://www.daz3d.com/lantios-lights-2
Which also has zero information about what's going on under the hood.
I use iray. Is this a pass or push?
Are these for indoor or outdoor scenes?
What's the point?
Help!

ANNND then there's this.
Looks pretty promising.
I assume IBL is a lower resource version than the standard (bigger) HDRI?
Or is HDRI a system and not tied to the size of the image being used?
They both do the same thing- encase your scene/render in a round ball or cube to create the lighting and backdrop.
Rendering "Scene and Sun only" should give me the lighting look (shadows and tone variations)- without the backdrop of sky and clods etc....
So the above the clouds part, means what?
Does the sun come down at a steeper angle?
Or is that just about the backdrop- that I won't get mountains and land in the far back???
I have this and I like it a lot.

Is this IBL more of the same??

Comments
It's also ON SALE, which would make it a nice alternate lightning option, assuming it works.
Those are 3dl sets. Nice ones but yeah 3dl
Awww damn. okay,.,
Lantios light sets are for 3DL and use a combination of regular lights and uberEnvironment (which uses the textures mentioned). Those won't work in iray without a lot of fiddling.
The two you liked would probably work better for outdoor scenes.

IBL means "image based lighting". Using HDRI as your lighting source is a type of IBL, HDRI simply refers to the type of image used.
