I just discovered a way to make a tedious task a bit fun :) !

I just discovered a way to make a tedious task a bit fun - namely manually deleting all the keyframes (expect frame 1) from an animation.

There may be a proper or faster or better way of doing this but up until now I have have to do the following process;
1. Right-click in the scene pane, Select->Select All
2. Right-click again & Select->Select Children
3. Bring up the Timeline window and click rewind button to go to frame 1, then repeat the following 99 times (assuming that you have 100 keyframes)
4. (thru 103) Click the button to skip to the next keyframe and then click the delete keyframe button.

The new (the fun) way is to do steps 1 to 3 but then hit play on the Timeline and hammer away on the delete keyframe button as fast as you can!

It's kind of satisfying - a bit like whack-a-mole! And it gets harder as you run out of keyframes too :)

When (if?) you get bored trying to nail the few stubborn remainers you just hit the stop button and revert to the old fashioned way. Then sit back and admire your handiwork.

Enjoy!

    Pfft, way too easy. Where's the fun in that? ;-D

    Hi Richard - that is no good since it clears the first frame too, right? However now I have bound shortcut key N to "skip to next keyframe" and D to "delete keyframe" so that is way faster than whack-a-mole!

    @ deepsix

    If you dont want to delete the first frame while using the Edit>Figure>Clear Animation>Clear Figure command, just Select All & Select Children and then use Memorize Figure and Memorize Item before using Clear Figure and Clear Item.

    Sidenode: Clear Items (actually its called Clear Selected Items) works on props, lights, cameras, groups, nulls, dformers just every node AND selected bone(s) of a figure.

    Example 1: You just want to clear the left arm animation - select the collar bone, select children, Memorize Items in the timeline frame where the arm is in the prefered default pose and then hit Clear Item. If you have used some of the Pose Controlls to pose the figure use Example 2 to clear animation on them.

    Example 2: You just want to clear the animation of one slider value - select Figure/Item, Memorize Figure/Item (the bright value will become dark to show its at default now), then press Alt+left-click on the value - now all keyframes for this slider will be deleted.

    Just go to the First Keyframe before you clear the timeline, then all your props and poses will be "at start position" and you can just set a new first Keyframe after deleting all other. I also often save the scene as  Start, because i know i will have to come back several times until everything is correct as i want. Or just save the start poses, so you can reapply them if something goes wrong.

    If you want to keep a frame, save just that frame as a pose or shape (depending on what you want); clear the whole lot, then merge it back in. :)

    No tedium, and I can go and have some fun elsewhere, or with rendering/modelling etc.

    I find alcohol helps... You might not do a great job... You might not finish... You might wake up hugging a sheep... But it usually is a bit of fun*.

    This is a timely thread as I am playing with animation now (thanks, dForce) and since I ultimately render still I want to clear the animation after a pose / drape and start over with the next but it's so tedious. I was about to post a question if there was an easier way but this thread will do the trick nicely!
