Looking for Josie K4

Is anybody out there who knows Josie for the Kids 4?

She was created by StephanieBT / Fisty and all I find of her in my Library doesn't work.

She came as setup-file so I have no control what was within and where to find it.

Would like to purchase her once more as folder pack but she's not there any more.

Don't mistake her with Josi

I guess only the 2 vendors can help you...

Fisty appears to be somewhat active at sharecg still (at least a couple of months ago). Maybe you could try sending her a sitemail there.

Do you mean you can't find Josie in the store, or that you cannot find her in your runtime/content library? I believe she was removed from the store at some point.

Fisty is still active in the store under the dual PA name: https://www.daz3d.com/fisty-darc and she is active in the forums - most recently I saw her posting in the thread about dForce in the Commons here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2946351/#Comment_2946351 You could try PM-ing her from there.

You asked the right question Melanie ;) I meant the store actually - even though Josie is already in my Library.

The problem is: the maps are not applied to the figure. I thought some files were missing but now I wonder:

Can it be their format isn't compatible with DS although it was offered bei DAZ?

Just to be clear on the steps you're taking:

You put a Kids 4 character/figure into the scene and use the materials from the Content Library (judging from your screen capture), but they don't show up in the workspace or on render. Is that correct?

The materials are compatible with Studio; HSS -- Human Surface Shader -- is a Daz Studio-only format shader, so that wouldn't be your problem.

What happens when you try to apply them?

Yes, that's right! And this is the way I usually apply morphs and maps with success.

Surprisingly I managed to contact Fisty and she answered promptly :)

This is what I was told but I need it to be translated into simple words:

"Being an older product from when Poser was still the standard there should be a Poser version of the file with all the textures, check your product library at Daz, under downloads you'll either have one file or two, if there's two you need both.  If you're using DIM make sure you have it configured to show Poser files, cause you can turn those off, and may be off by default in this day and age.  Also make sure if you did install both that they're installed to the same runtime, if you install the poser version to the runtime in the poser install folder and the mats are in the documents/daz3d/etc daz studio content folder the mats won't find the textures.  I haven't heard from StephanieBT for years, no idea what she's up to now.  Worst case if you can't find the Poser files contact Daz' customer service, they may have gotten lost off the Daz servers or something."

As said it was a setup-version and all files were installed automatically. Good to know that the formats actually should work.

    but no error messages?

Are you using iray to render? HSS is a 3DL shader.

  • WolpiWolpi Posts: 323

But of course! They are missing many basic files then.

This is all what is in Josie's folder and where the previews lead to:

(I'm going to compare it with other characters now ... )

    I still use 3Delight, Leana.

My comparison showed that the INJ and REM files seem to be missing with Josie's files.

It's no problem if the morphs lack. I'm previously interested in the mats.

This is what happens if I try to apply them:

Wolpi double check your "Texture" folder  for this : texture\StephanieBT\Josie\  see if the textures are there

  • LeanaLeana Posts: 11,029

INJ/REM are for morphs, not textures

In Poser the mat pose files are under runtime/libraries/pose/Josie

  • WolpiWolpi Posts: 323

yes I know, and this is the path and folder my screenshot above shows.

Assumely further folders in other places of the library are required to apply the mats.

Either the Josie setup-file lacks them or the path is wrong or missing.

I don't like setup-items; would like to have Josie as folder-pack to see what's all inside.

The search function brings no results with 'josie'

Wolpi, you also need the files in runtime\texture\StephanieBT\Josie\ - this is what causes the error messages, because the files actual texture are either missing, or their path is different from what the duf file tells it.

How are you installing this product? Daz Connect, DIM or manually? The relevant zip is called IM00010570-01_Josie.zip and the file should have a size of 41.5MB (43,553,696 bytes). If you have the same size file, then chances are you have the correct product, you just need to ensure that it has been installed correctly.

The problem is: I can't find the file. Since long ago my files system is proper and systematical - but Josie came earlier. I think it was a setup file without visible folders. Or an incomplete pack from Idunnowhere and regrettably she doesn't seem to be available anymore.

Now I hope that somewhen somebody finds her somewhere and tells me I may purchase her once more.

Thank you all for your kind help!

You should see the files in your Poser format within DS

Thank you Chohole. These files are missing in my runtime.

I wonder why she's not available anymore

  • frank0314frank0314 Posts: 13,383

Yes, funny thing, I stumbled over her previews so often but probably mistook her with Josi and Josie Teen in my library.

I somehow enclosed her in my heart. and would like to give life to her.

If you've bought her once, she should still be in your Product Library at the DAZ3D Store - go to https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files then type "Josie" in the Filter field and  hit "enter". The new format files should show up there, no need to buy her again.

Yes, she is in the library. Installs and works fine in DS. Here in Iray with the Anagenessis 2 shader.

Is she in the library just as Josie?  Who is shown as the owner.  Is she a PA item or a DO?

Just "Josie" yes. No vendor info on the library page, but I've attached the product page data I captured while it was still in the store.
