Playing a Game while Backing up data.

So I'm backing up my Library because I'm getting ready for to install my SSD. Buts its 680GB. I was wondering if I can play a game while its going. I've never done that. I'm just bored... hehe

Well my question is, is that a bad idea. I know its within my power, but I'm not sure if its a bad move, or not.
I also dont know if saving my %appdata% is required. My friend told me to but how important is it to backup the %appdata% folder?
If you are just copying your library it should be fine. If you are doing something like imaging your entire drive I would leave it be but it doesn't sound like that.

I think the only thing that would cause problems with your backup would be if you ran something that updated any of the files you are backing up. A game shouldn't want to access anything in your Daz library so it should be safe. Of course running the backup might slow your game down, I find that copying large amounts of data to a USB drive can drastically slow down any other disc access on my computer. And if you are running some massive state of the art game and it manages to crash Windows your backup would be stopped, but if you stick to simple, low overhead games I think you would be OK.
Yeah thats what I figured. I was going to load up Fallout 4 and try a new Mod. Probably not the best ideal. =]
Probably a good time to clean up my house and do some laundry. hehe
