  • I have an XP-Pen 22HD and it is fairly good.  There are some driver quirks, but the hardware is solid.

One thing I have learned. I now use a thin, clear plastic piece put over the drawing surface. I bought a plastic thingie for trapper keepers, then cut it to fit. It serves two purposes.

1)Nibs never wear out, seriously, on the same nib 4 years or so. Those things are expensive!

2)Stops the surface from getting scratched up. If the plastic liner starts looking like crap, or feeling too scratchy, I just put another on top. Only had to do it once in 4 years or so.

Before I tried out the plastic fix I thought of, I was going through a nib every few months, and the surface was starting to look a bit messed up. I notice no difference in the drawing sensitivity at all.

My Huion GT 185-HD is about to become a year old. Best investment ever. It looks and works like the first day. And it works GREAT. A display at a fraction of a Cintiq.

I don’t know how much it will last, but if it died today, I wouldn’t hesitate about getting one from the same brand.

I Bought my Wacom Int Pro this winter (replacing a Bamboo) and it was such a big difference.....use it for modelling in Blender......making selections with the pen.

I still have an old first generation Bamboo tablet that I had to give up because I couldn't find drivers compatible with my current OS. I have a Intuos with a wireless adaptor but the wireless adaptor crapped out after a couple of months and Wacom insisted the problem was my computer.

I think when this Intuos gives out completely I'm going to look at a Huion display tablet. After dealing with Wacom tech support I'm pretty cheesed at the company and am not looking forward to giving them anymore money and the Huion Cintiq alternatives look pretty good.

  • I have been wanting to buy a tablet and was wondering if one of you could point me in the right direction. I just want to do some simple drawings/paintings. I have been looking at these two but I don't know the difference. Any thoughts?

Hi Hellboy, if you drop back in:

lf memory serves, you use Rebelle? If so have you managed to get it to function fully on the GT 185. I've got a GT 190 and selecting/using brushes etc works fine with the stylus but have to use mouse for resizing, colour change etc?

Aaaaaaand I have a new Wacom. It's smaller (for the same active area), and the stylus is smaller, too. But I'm back in business! :D
