Question about DinoRauls dinosaurs
in The Commons
I was wondering how well the textures work in DAZ Studio, since they seem to only have Poser .mc6 settings. Will they load and then you can apply DS shaders or is it more complicated?

I actually tested one of them in the other day to see how it looked in Iray. No changes have been made to shaders or anything.
It's this one btw: Brachiosaurus - https://www.daz3d.com/catalog/product/view/id/06984
Thanks, but the older models from the Predator vs. Prey bundle like the Brachiosaurus all have DAZ Studio materials. I am wondering about the newer https://www.daz3d.com/dilophosaurus-38197 and https://www.daz3d.com/dimorphodon which only list Poser material presets (.mc6).
Sorry, don't have these, but since it says they're Daz Studio compatible I'd believe that's implicit, and that they're just listing the Poser materials to show it's .mc6 format (AFAIR that's a newer format not compatible with older version of Poser).
I think MC6 could be used in Poser 6 and upwards. It certainly works in Poser 8
OK, this page however only mentions Poser 11, so maybe it needs to be updated then:

Yes, they will work in Poser 6 and later. The number indicates which version of Poser it was introduced in. Poser 5 for .mtl5, Poser 6 for .mc6, Poser 7 for .mc7, etc. What I was wondering is if and how well .mc6 files will work in DAZ Studio 4.9. After doing research elsewhere, it is as clear as mud. Two thirds of the posts say .mc6 is supported by Studio. BUT it will only work if the item is a figure and not a prop, or if it includes textures and isn't just shaders, or if you hop on one foot in a circle chanting the praises of the DAZ and Poser Gods...
The other third of the posts I found said that Studio is supposed to read .mc6 files, but it's broken. The links to official Daz posts about it are broken. In the readme for his products at Renderosity, DinoRaul says that they should work in Studio but it may be broken and require more work to get them working. That is why I was hoping that someone who owns some of the newer dinosaurs could let me know what is needed to get them working in DAZ Studio.
If no one knows, I suppose I can buy them and return them if they don't work.
Here's a quick render of the Dimorphodon. The only adjustment was to reduce the glossiness on the skin surface from the way it loads at 92.9 percent, down to 30 percent. The default setting seems way too high.
Thank you.
